A courtesy fill program is one where the propane company will come out periodically and fill your tank up for you. They aren't just picking a random time to fill your tank, there is a plan to the way that it happens. What happens is that the propane company is going to look back at all your records with them. They are going to see how often you've ordered propane. That will let the company estimate your usage. Having a good estimation of what your usage is and what the size of your tank is will let the propane company figure out when they need to come out to your property. Of course, if you are going to take advantage of that program, you need to make sure that you let them know if you have added or subtracted appliances or if more people are going to be using your propane so that they adjust your courtesy deliveries. There are a lot of reasons why you might want to go with this option.

The biggest reason to do it is that it is going to make it so much more convenient for you. You don't have to do anything to make sure that you have enough propane, the delivery company will just make sure that it happens. That can be particularly helpful for you if your house is a seasonal home. For example, if it's your summer camp where you go out to fish and escape the heat, you might not remember to check the propane tank each summer, but the propane company can make sure that it is filled for you.
