Swim Spa Setups For Outdoors And Indoors

You may have shopped around for a swim spa that will accommodate your wish to interchange workouts and relaxation sessions, but you should also put some thought into where you will install the water feature. Swim spa models tend to be elongated in shape and may contain a cabinet or a frame. Various setups will transform your deck, yard, or property in different ways.

A Freestanding Setup

A freestanding swim spa that will be centrally located or that will be installed alongside an elevated deck or patio will provide full exposure of the sides of the spa. Many swim spa models contain a galvanized steel sublayer and the option of having a shell installed on each side.

A shell consists of panels that are waterproof and that may be designed to look like a particular wood variety or that may contain a textured surface. A stepladder that is designed for use with a swim spa can be set up along one of the sides. A wooden ladder can be combined with a wooden shell type, or a textured ladder and shell can be combined to add uniformity. Tall foliage that is located near the swim spa will increase privacy and shade during soaking sessions.

A Recessed Setup

A recessed setup includes an inground layout that results in the top of the spa laying flush with the surface of a patio or a deck. A partially sunken layout results in the top few feet of the spa being above ground and the remainder being below ground.

With either type of recessed layout, enjoying the décor that is on a patio or a deck will be possible and a ladder will not be necessary to enter or exit the swim spa. With a layout that involves the bulk of the spa being underground and the rim laying flush with the material that surrounds it, an outer shell will not be necessary. The galvanized steel sublayer will be submerged underground and dirt or other insulating materials may surround it.

An Indoor Setup

A sunroom or an enclosed patio will supply the opportunity to enjoy using a swim spa during the winter. Natural light will filter into the room and can be used to create the illusion of being outdoors. A standalone or recessed layout can be selected. With either arrangement, considerations should be made when choosing furnishings or décor that will surround the swim spa.
